Muhammad Aon

Baby Aon was born on 17 March and has spent most of his short life fighting for every breath. His family is appealing for help to take him abroad for the specialist treatment he cannot get in Pakistan.

Muhammad Aon’s Story Muhammad Aon was born on 17 March 2026 at Fatima Memorial Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan. He was born prematurely and initially appeared stable, but within his first hours, doctors noticed breathing difficulties and low oxygen levels. He was placed on oxygen and later treated for jaundice. His condition then became much more serious. He developed severe infections, including Serratia marcescens and Klebsiella pneumoniae, and required prolonged intensive care, including mechanical ventilation. At one point, an infection caused one of his lungs to collapse. After a prolonged hospital stay, he was finally discharged home on oxygen and with a feeding tube. Soon afterward, his parents noticed that his eyes were turning downward and that his head was increasing in size. Imaging showed non-communicating (obstructive) hydrocephalus, caused by a blockage of normal cerebrospinal fluid flow near the Aqueduct of Sylvius, resulting in increasing pressure inside his head. Aon’s case is extremely complex. In addition to hydrocephalus, he has a history of serious lung and breathing problems, a feeding/food-pipe complication, and problems involving his bones and limbs. His previous infections and prolonged respiratory support have made his medical condition even more complicated. Doctors in Pakistan have discussed a VP shunt as an available option, but because of Aon’s multiple medical complications, his family has been told that his surgical recovery and future course cannot be guaranteed. His parents therefore contacted Boston Children’s Hospital in the United States, where the neurosurgical team recommended urgent evaluation and treatment with Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV) and Choroid Plexus Cauterization (CPC). CPC is not available to the family in Pakistan, and the treatment options available locally are limited for a baby with Aon’s age and complex medical history. Today, at only six months old, Muhammad AON continues to face the consequences of these serious complications. His family is seeking urgent specialist treatment abroad before the pressure in his head and his other medical problems cause further harm. His mother is appealing for duas, support and help. Every donation, every share, and every person who raises their voice for Aon can bring him one step closer to the treatment he urgently needs. Please help Muhammad Aon get the chance to fight for his life.
